Iridology uses the appearance
of the eye, and in particular the iris, to assess mental and physical
health. Practitioners can identify past and present disorders and
predict future problems by studying the colour, condition and markings
of a patient's iris. Iridologists claim they do not diagnose
actual diseases but pinpoint weaknesses in the body so that health
problems can be avoided. The iris has thousands of nerve endings
and iridologists claim that it is linked to every organ and tissue
in the body. Neuro-optic reflexes in the iris are said to react
to disorders in the body marking the related part of the iris.
Iridology is sometimes used as
a diagnostic tool by Homeopaths and Naturopaths, and very often
these are the treatments of choice once the Iridologist has
identified the problem.
