Dandruff
Dandruff occurs as fine white
scales flaking from the scalp. It is often a result of seborrhoeic
eczema, but can be related to psoriasis or caused by a fungal infection
- in this case it is thought it might be related to the fungus candida
albicans. Dandruff is extremely common and not serious. Conventionally
it is treated with medicated shampoo - although complementary treatments
are more likely to favour a systemic approach to dealing with it.
Tip: as dandruff might be caused
by merely a dry scalp, applying olive oil alongside your normal
hair conditioner is very effective in treatment.
Herbal wisdom
- Massage the scalp daily with an infusion of rosemary.
- Or rinse your hair with a few drops of thyme essential oil,
or an infusion of marigold and nettle.
The following complementary therapies
are used in the treatment of Dandruff:
Aromatherapy,
Ayurveda, Chinese
Herbal Medicine, Herbal
Medicine, Homeopathy,
Indian Head Massage,
Naturopathy, Nutritional
Therapy.
