THE NATIONAL ECZEMA SOCIETY
Registered Charity No. 1009671
Registered Company No. 2685083
The National Eczema Society was founded in 1975 and is
the only charity in the UK dedicated to providing support and information
for people who have eczema, and those who care for someone with
eczema. One in every 10 people in the UK is affected by eczema.
There is no known cure for this condition and one of our objectives
is to raise funds to finance research projects.
Eczema causes physical and
emotional distress, affects family relationships, undermines self
esteem, affects social skills and places limits on career opportunities
and academic achievement. Ignorance and lack of understanding among
others can intensify feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Location and Structure
163 Eversholt Street
London NW1 1BU
This is 10 minutes walk from Euston Station in London. We have
18 paid members of staff working at our Head Office and 4 paid staff
members who work from home. One of our Home Workers is the Editor
of the Society's quarterly magazine "Exchange".
Circulation of the magazine is limited to our members but a copy
can be bought on request for £2.50.
We maintain a large network of voluntary local contacts who live
out in the regions. They have elected to be available for local
people to contact by telephone and discuss any problems they have
encountered. Local contacts often organise fundraising events and
some set up support groups.
We are also part of a venture called the PEAK PROJECT and
work with 'The National Asthma Campaign' to organise adventurous
holidays for children with eczema and asthma.
As well as providing support we offer training in the treatment
and management of eczema to health care professionals and run regular
study days for community nurses, paediatric nurses and GP's to name
but a few.
