Slipped Disc

A Slipped Disc occurs when the soft centre of one of the discs that separate the vertebrae, protrudes from its fibrous shell and presses against the nerves in the spinal cord.

The symptoms include sudden, severe pain, generally one-sided, radiating along the nerve. This might be accompanied by weakness in the muscles, or the back comes locked as the muscles tighten to prevent further movement. It will be worse after coughing, sneezing or bending, and there may be pins and needles or numbness in the leg or foot.

Tip: rescue remedy is good to take to treat the shock and sudden pain that comes on with a Slipped Disc.
